PLUCK FROM AN 8 MONTH OLD LAMB: Which died of rumen acidosis and frothy bloat due to over-engorgement on barley. The image demonstrates the bloat-line in the mucosa of the oesophagus. Compression on thoracic organs by the enlarging rumen squeezes the blood in the oesophageal wall cranially resulting in proximal mucosal congestion and caudal mucosal pallor with a discrete line between the 2 zones.

Dx: Frothy bloat
