- With 64 participants, this was the largest NABSnet Masterclass to date (fully subscribed)
- 39 (61%) were private practitioners, and for 19 of them it was their first Masterclass
- 30 different practices were represented (enrolments were open for two vets per practice clinic)
- 45 (70%) of all participants worked in Queensland
- The CVO or Deputy CVO from all jurisdictions (Commonwealth, WA, NT, QLD) attended
- 5 veterinary students attended (who had had NABS scholarships for rotations in the north)
Real-life case studies presented by the practitioners were highly engaging. This year for the first time most of the cases were complex and (to date) unresolved. The opportunity to discuss them was a fantastic learning environment. The investigation framework introduced by Tristan Jubb was extremely well received as a conceptual tool to assist in diagnostic thinking and the contribution of the pathologists in the network in disease investigations was reinforced. A practical workshop (hypothetical scenario) focused on the ways in which private practitioners could be involved in an EAD response.
Overall – great chance to build skills for disease investigations – and meet people to enhance connectedness and easy communication.
