interlobular pulmonary septae and foam on cut surface of lung

BOVINE LUNG: The visceral pleural surface displays moderate, regionally extensive opacity most obvious over the dorsocaudal region. Diffusely, the interlobular pulmonary septae are obvious and expanded by colourless or white material. On cut surface the pleura and interlobular septae are separated by glistening pale yellow/white substance. There is a small volume of stable foam exuding from the cut surface of the lung.

Dx: Acute bovine pulmonary emphysema and oedema.

Note: Severe pulmonary oedema could look similar to this in any affected species.
