Veterinary student subsidies for placements in northern Australia

Applications close 9 January

4th and 5th year veterinary science students are invited to apply for $3,000 subsidies to complete veterinary course placements in veterinary practices providing services to the northern Australian livestock industry in 2026.

Subsidies will assist students with travel and accommodation costs for undertaking livestock orientated:

– clinical extramural placements with private veterinary practices undertaking servicing the livestock industry, or

– placements with the state Departments of Agriculture/Primary Industries.

There are 40 subsidies available across northern Western Australia (10), the Northern Territory (10) and northern Queensland (20) until December 2026.

The subsidy will be paid directly to the student on completion of the placement by the state or territory where the placement has been completed.
